I bought a painting. It reminds me of my travels.
He gallery owner asked me to leave it until the end of the show so I did and took this picture. The gallery owner had this car:
Yhe artist is a local Fresno guy
Ialso bought a black and white photo of Yosemite in the most, but I can’t show it to you because it is boxed up.
I probably spent too much, but fuck it, it's my money.

I like it. I really like much of lightly impressionist art. It’s similar to poetry in many respects (coincidentally I love the looser, less structured poetry).

If you haven’t seen this already, it’s lovely.
I need to get back to making art (not painting, but playing with sculpture, tech, etc).

I think art should be lined up against the wall and hung

I like it (partly because it reminds me of the kind of road I'd like in front of me)

I’ve been really into scientific based sketch work lately. Daniel Martin Diaz is one of my favorites.
Also, if you’re an art nerd, check out the documentary Struggle on Netflix. Very interesting story about artist Stanislav
Szukalski, who’s work I really enjoy. A true genius, and very complicated and interesting man.
Only artwork I’ve purchased recently has been in the form of t shirts from Boss Dog and Fartco.

Hung indefinitely, where everyone can see it

I enjoy more abstract but the brush style and color palette is attractive, 10/10 would hang.
Just know your money will be well spent keeping that sc alive, probably replacing a door panel or door handle

As soon as I saw his post, I was going to post this. What they say in the documentary is true, Bob Ross continues to have a profound influence on society long after his passing. Even my son has a Bob Ross shirt. It’s a good philosophy.

I like abstract art, but it seems like abstract politics are the trend these days.

Found this at a Habitat for humanity Restore just down the valley from aspen. Grabbed it for $35, probably appraises for $3500.

That’s the kind of painting I like. Simple but elegant on the surface, but more nuanced than the brush strokes imply the more you look at it . I grew up in Laguna, which in many ways is still an artist community. My mother is an artist working mostly in ceramics, and I spent a lot of time at shows and galleries growing up, and I am grateful for that education.
I don't have a lot of artwork in my own home, unfortunately. Some of mom's pieces, of course, but her stuff is more on the functional side. I do have a few random pieces of sculpture as well as some decorative pieces, mostly random cool stuff I found at the Goodwill Outlet. A little chip or crack doesn't bother me if the core piece has some aesthetic appeal.

I’m more into drawings and sculpture than paintings. I also veer more towards extreme realism.

That first photo you shared looks like it could be a TOOL album cover
See Lateralus for reference:

Cool! Oh I meant to say I was admiring that Lion painting you have above your fireplace. Quite the piece
